Complete Irrigation Systems
The importance of irrigation systems
Sydney’s often dry and warm climate can have a disturbing effect on our garden plants. Plants are mostly made up of water. Apart from being an essential element for their survival, water is necessary to transform the nutrition’s from the soil through roots and stems into leaves and fruits.
Not even the most dedicated gardeners are able to keep up with the adequate watering of plants and lawns, especially if they are having to look after larger gardens. This is why a well designed, efficient water irrigation system is a crucial element of a well designed garden.
What is an irrigation systems?
In an irrigation system, water runs through a series of pipes, where the frequency and length of watering period is set by a controller and solenoids.
The most commonly used irrigation types are drop and sprinkler irrigations. Drop irrigations are more water efficient, limiting the amount of water being lost due to evaporation since the water drips out of the pipes very close to the surface and to the roots of the plants.

The service we provide
Lotus Gardening offers an irrigation design service that is specifically tailored to your plants water requirements. Our irrigation specialist maps out your garden, designing separate systems for areas that require more or less watering.
Some parts of your garden, such as the hedges or veggie garden require a drop irrigation system, where water drips out of small holes from the irrigation pipe, providing slow release watering.
On the other hand, your lawn could be possibly watered better with a sprinkler system, using only as many sprinklers as necessary, limiting water usage. Being water wise is always the key point, especially in a dry country like Australia.
Lotus Gardening not only helps you to design and build your irrigation system, but to monitor it and change the setting of the controller according to the seasons. Plants require more frequent watering during dry, hot summer months than cold, wet winter periods.
Our gardeners will constantly check your plants and lawn during their scheduled maintenance to pick up any early signs of over or underwatering. They will make the necessary adjustment to the irrigation system in order to keep your garden flourishing.
